A redundancy notice must confirm the dismissal date, redundancy pay entitlement, and appeal rights. A fair redundancy requires a genuine redundancy situation and a fair selection process.
- Statutory redundancy pay = weekly pay × years service × age multiplier
- Minimum statutory notice: 1 week per year of service (max 12)
- Right to appeal within reasonable time (usually 5–10 days)
- Collective consultation required if 20+ redundancies in 90 days
- Failure to consult = automatic unfair dismissal
