ℹ️ Online Personal Training Agreements — Legal background

Online coaching is a rapidly growing sector. Unlike in-person training, online coaches cannot directly observe clients performing exercises, which creates different liability considerations. A written agreement should address this, along with medical disclaimers, programme ownership, and digital content use.

  • Online coach cannot directly supervise — medical clearance/PAR-Q is essential
  • Programme plans are copyrighted to the coach unless assigned
  • Check-in frequency and communication platform must be defined
  • Cancellation and refund policies for programme packages are common disputes
  • Consumer rights: 14-day cancellation right may apply to online programmes
