Mirror wills are near-identical wills made by two people (usually a couple) at the same time, each mirroring the other's wishes. They are legally independent documents — each person can change their will at any time.

• Each will is a separate legal document
• Either party can change their will at any time without telling the other
• Consider a trust to protect assets if the survivor remarries
• Mutual wills (legally binding mirror wills) require a separate agreement
• Children from previous relationships: consider separate provision
